For Parents
Parental involvement at Ararat North Primary School is welcomed and encouraged. Here are just a few of the ways parents can become involved at our school:
Working Bees - Ararat North has beautiful, extensive grounds which need constant maintenance so Working Bees are held on a regular basis. We have started to hold family barbecues in conjunction with our Working Bees and this has proved very successful. Parents can enjoy a delicious lunch and then work alongside their children on tasks such as sweeping, mulching, weeding and painting. It sounds so simple but really is a wonderful way for everyone to develop ownership and pride in our school.
School Council - School Councils play a key role in Victorian government schools. The School Council supports the Principal and staff in providing the best possible educational outcomes for our students. Our Council meets at least twice per school term and has responsibilities which include reviewing Policies, Fundraising, Grounds and Maintenance and Budget approval. School Council elections are held annually and all parents have the opportunity to nominate to become a School Councillor.
Fundraising - Our school conducts a wide range of fundraising activities to raise extra money for the things we need. Our current major fundraising goal is to raise funds for a second modern playground suite for use by Learning Area 2 and 3 students. As fundraising activities arise, all parents and families can contribute in a number of ways: donating volunteer time, donating goods (e.g. cakes) and attending events.
Fortnightly Assemblies - Families and friends are invited to attend our school assemblies, held every second Friday (opposite Newsletter week), commencing at 2.55 p.m. Student awards are presented, school news is shared and we occasionally have a wonderful performance item from our classes.
